The Health Ministry confirmed the first monkepox case in Indonesia.

The patient was declared positive for the disease in the PCR test result issued on Friday night.

The confirmed monkeypox patient is a 27 years old man from Jakarta.

He took the PCR test two days prior.

“The person in question has just traveled from abroad.

The positive patient was one of the 23 monekypox suspects tested by the Health Ministry. Meanwhile, the rest of the 22 suspects were declared negative.

The positive patient showed the symptoms, which include fever, enlarged lymph nodes, rashes on the face, palms, feet, and parts of the genitals.

 

The patient is currently in good condition, meaning that there is no serious illness.

The Health Ministry conduct a monitoring for the infectious disease.

A monkeypox case was first reported in Britain on May 6, 2022.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced monkeypox as a global health emergency on July 23.

To date, 86 countries have reported cases of monkeypox with a total 39,708 cases and 400 deaths
