Hailstorms

Hail hit several areas of Jakarta at around 3:20 p.m. following heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The ice pellets, seen on Jln, Thamrin, were mostly the size of small marbles.
Hailstorms commonly occurred during the transition period from the dry season to the rainy season and vice versa.
Hailstorms could happen if the temperature of previous day was higher than usual.

The higher temperature could be the result of strong sun radiation and high humidity.

Cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds appeared in the afternoon.

People could also feel strong wind before the rain.

The rainy season would reach its peak in January or February next year.
