The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has
reported that two earthquakes hit East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Sunday
morning.
The first one, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake, jolted the province at
4:54 a.m. The epicenter was located at sea, 148 kilometers northeast of
Alor regency in NTT, at a depth of 573 km.
It was followed by another earthquake around four hours later. The
second earthquake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, hit the province
at 9:18 a.m. The epicenter was located 19 km southwest of Malaka regency
in NTT at a depth of 52 km.
Shocks from the second quake were felt in Kefamenanu city, according to a
report from the BMKG. The agency also noted that neither earthquake
had triggered a tsunami.(iwa)
