Apartement Murder

There was a murder of a woman at her apartment in Kelapa Dua,.

Robbery was the motivation behind the murder.

The suspect is an unemployed widower.

He is a father of three, identified only as AS, 37,

He knew the woman through messaging app WeChat.

they agreed to meet on a date at around 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Based on their conversation on WeChat recovered by the police,

T asked AS for Rp 400,000 (US$27.80) to pay for the date.

However, AS came with only Rp 50,000 in his pocket.

Soon after he arrived at T’s place,

a quarrel took place and

a quarrel ended with him allegedly strangling T

with a phone-charging cable.

A next door neighbour had heard people arguing loudly inside the apartment unit at 5 p.m.

The body of T was discovered some two hours later by her boyfriend.

After spending the weekend fishing with his friends,

AA came home to the apartment in the Habitat Apartment complex at 7 p.m.

He found T’s naked body, bound hand and foot.

AA attempted to remove the cable around T’s neck in order to revive her, but to no avail.

AA alerted his neighbors and

the matter was reported it to the Kelapa Dua Police.

AA and T lived together in the apartment.

According to AA’s account,
they were still in contact at 5 p.m. through the Whatsapp messaging app

when T told AA that she was with a guest at that moment.

“But when AA replied to the message at 5:40 p.m., the victim did not respond.

When the police arrived at the scene,
they found out that some of the victim’s valuables were missing,

including two mobile phones, a wallet containing Rp 5 million (US$346), jewelry and a sling bag.

Based on the crime scene investigation and witness accounts,

the police immediately began the hunt for T’s guest at the time of the killing.

After examining the apartment complex’s CCTV footage,

the police were able to identify and arrest AS at his relative’s house the following day.

“We matched the CCTV footage with the last person that the victim met,

and we concluded that the suspect was AS.

“His [AS] motive was theft of the victim’s belongings.

Ferdi went on to explain that

T is a karaoke parlor hostess,

She was also a sex worker and AA reportedly confirmed that fact.
The Habitat Apartment management knew nothing about either T or AA.

“We don’t know her, she was not listed in our records,

only owners and residents were registered.
T or AA probably rented the unit from the real owner, although

the apartment has a policy that forbids owners from renting out their apartments.

the incident had created unease among other residents in the apartment complex.
