Semarang students use fake addresses to get into state high schools

to enroll in state high schools in the province using fake addresses.

found to have falsified documents containing
information on their
place of residence
during
the joint registration process that used the zoning system.
Aimed

equalizing the quality of state schools,
the
policy favors students
who live closest to their proposed schools.

confession made by a resident
who said
he was forced to issue the fake documents by one of the parents.
This
year’s new student enrollment nationwide uses a zoning system
in which
70 percent of the new students are accepted solely based on their residency,
20
percent on student achievements within the respective zones,
5 percent
on student achievements outside
the zones
and the
remaining 5 percent because students’ parents work in the respective zones.
