Man charged with setting ex-girlfriend on fire

He has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to his ex-girlfriend,

“The victim and perpetrator were together for seven years,

but the victim wanted to break up,”


Ali said the incident occurred
when Isnen went to the victim’s workplace, a children’s clothes shop

Irma was sweeping the floor as the shop had just opened,
she was alone with the shop owner’s child at the time.

Isnen went inside and began to quarrel with Irma

before allegedly splashing her with gasoline

that he had brought along and setting fire to her.

Irma escaped the shop and screamed for help from passers-by,

while Isnen fled the scene.

Not long after Isnen surrendered to a nearby police post.
Irma is being treated in the Sekayu city hospital for 70 percent burns,
