LRT Fasting Month Satpol PP

People board into an LRT at Bumi Sriwijaya station.
LRT passengers in Palembang are welcome to eat and drink on board
during Ramadan to break their fast.

The regulation applies to passengers that board the train at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport at 5:56 p.m.
Food and drink that can be taken on board the LRT was limited to bottled drinks and snacks.
“To keep the train clean,
there will be officers reminding passengers not to leave garbage inside the LRT.

the dispensation would give comfort to fasting passengers.

Officers will also make an announcement when it was time to break the fast.

Smoking, however, is banned, and so are street musicians.
“We give permission [to eat and drink] to only those who are still on board the trains.

LRT Palembang has transported 1.5 million passengers since it commenced operations.
efforts had been made to encourage people to use the LRT.

Among the efforts included integrating the LRT fare with that of other modes of transportation into a single fare since February.

Lower fares are also available for students.

Transportation Minister  previously urged people in Palembang to use the LRT regularly.
“We have to be proud because 80 percent of this is the creation of the sons of the nation,” Budi said recently.

Padang Public Order Agency officers (Satpol PP)

Satpol PP conducted raids on restaurants that
were open during the day in the fasting month of Ramadan.

Satpol PP found 10 restaurants that were open, but

that failed to announce they only served non-Muslims.

The raid was conducted in the Pondok area, from x, y, and z to Jl. Klenteng.
Indonesian Muslims are observing Ramadan,
when they do not eat or drink from dawn until dusk.
"Our officers immediately put banners on these restaurants.

Writing on the banner reads: "Only for the non-Muslims."

Located in West Sumatra, Padang is a Muslim-majority city.

Al Amin argued that the raid was justified by a circular issued by Padang's mayor.

Padang Mayor ordered that restaurants should only open close to the hour
when people would break their fasts.

In daytime, he ordered, restaurants should close or only serve non-Muslims.

Places of entertainment, including karaoke centers, are also required to close during Ramadan.

"Those who are not fasting should respect those who do," he wrote.
if the restaurants remove the banners, they would be forced to close
and be sanctioned in other ways. (dev)
