State-owned Oil and Gas Company Case


Karen is a former president director of the state-owned oil and gas company, PT Pertamina 

She was sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted in a case involving the Basker Manta Gummy (BMG) Block, Australia.

by the Jakarta Corruption Court

The sentence was less than the prosecutor's demand of 15 years imprisonment,

but she was also fined Rp 1 billion (US$70,000) by the court.

Karen immediately filed to appeal the verdict. (putusan)

Court Justice Emilia read out the verdict, saying that

the defendant violated investment procedures (terdakwa)
and caused state losses of Rp 568 billion.

Karen was also deemed to have ruined the company's good governance.  (dianggap)

that the authority had not performed in accordance with the duties required by the means
