One dead as house burns down in Central Jakarta

Firefighters try to put out a fire consuming semi-permanent houses in North Jakarta

A fire razed a house in Kemayoran, killing at least one person.
the fire has broken out at 4 p.m.
“Residents managed to put out the flames by 4:25 p.m.
with their own modest fire-extinguishing equipment,”

residents have heard an explosion at the house
and worked together to put out the fire by themselves.
One person living in the house, Slamet, 66, died from the fire.
“Soon after the fire trucks came and combed the house,
they found a male body on the scene.
The body has been removed by police investigators for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
